Santander Scholarship

Santander Scholarships 2025-26 is a new initiative designed support current university students in reaching their full potential and enhancing their future career prospects with the support of £5,000 scholarships. 

The scholarship will support students with the cost of education-related expenses such as tuition fees, course materials, accommodation, or other essential costs that help you to keep the focus on your studies and make your university life that little bit easier. 

Applications are now open and close at 5pm on Thursday 19 February.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Applicants must be aged 18 or older at the time of applying and a UK resident.
  2. Applicable to applicants in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales: Applicants must be current full-time students who are enrolled in any year of study during the 2025/26 academic year in undergraduate or postgraduate study at a Santander Universities’ partner university (see a full list of partners in the Terms and Conditions). Any degree discipline is welcome.
  3. Applicants must qualify as a Home Fee Status student.
  4. For applicants in the 2025–26 academic year, these scholarships will be awarded to students undertaking Master’s-level study.
  5. Create an account on Santander Open Academy to apply (if you’re not registered already).
  6. You must know your student ID number and provide it via the application form.
  7. You must have completed the assessment on the Santander Open Academy Platform by the closing date 19 February 2026 (hereinafter, the ‘Online Assessment’). This Online Assessment involves a series of questions to assess the skills and abilities of the applicants to select the scholarship winners. (The link for the assessment will be included in an email from Santander Open Academy that confirms your application form submission was successful).
  8. Applicants must confirm they meet the above criteria (points 1-4) upon submitting their application.
  9. Scholarships awarded in 2026 will be for Postgraduate students, who have started their course in either September 2025 or January 2026. All DMU Masters courses are eligible, with no preference toward courses of study. (MA, MSc, Mres)
  10. Our scholarship programmes are designed to support students with the most financial need. In addition to that we look to support applications who:
    1. are care leavers
    2. are estranged from their parents
    3. are the first in their family to attend university
    4. hold refugee status
    5. who live quintile one of the POLAR4 system. These are areas where low numbers of young people progress to university
    6. have protected characteristics as defined in the Equality Act 2010
    7. are children of military families
